Ataman airguns are known for their outstanding quality, exceptional reliability and cutting-edge technologies. The legendary expertise of Russian gunsmiths stand behind every Ataman airgun in addition to their state-of-the-art production and the superior materials they use to construct the guns.

Fine craftsmanship and excellence is evident in every aspect of this pistol from its Lothar Walther barrel, to the adjustable trigger, lightweight versatility, and power.

For the ultimate in shot-to-shot consistency, the integrated pressure regulator ensures the Ataman makes the most efficient use of the remaining air supply. Because of the regulator, the Ataman AP16BSM delivers more shots per fill and it features a stunning 4,350 psi (300 BAR) fill pressure. With up to 20 shots per fill, you'll enjoy the consistency of shooting.

The two way adjustable trigger allows you to adjust the first stage travel and second stage release point, while you can customize the pull weight to your preference.

Things I liked:

Accuracy: With open sights, standing, at 20yrds I can hit a 6in plate every time. You'd need a scope and bench to really wrestle out just how precise this guy is. Looks: If you're a 1911 fanboy it's hard to say no to this thing. The finish is quite good as well, and I love the scales on the grips. Trigger: This alone could be the number one selling point. If you like tinkering with triggers the AP16 has you covered. It has adjustable spring tension on the trigger, primary sear, and the secondary sear. It also has adjustable preset on the sear as well as the trigger. You'll be measuring your trigger pull in ounces rather than pounds. Power: While it doesn't have near the power of a full length barrel it will get you the advertised speed and then some with light pellets. Technically, it exceeds a lot of the UK regulations (sorry guys). Consistency: It'll shoot true until you run it off the regulator.

Things I would have changed:

Price: The only reason I justified this purchase is that it was a refurb and priced lower. I would not personally pay full price for it. Magazine: Technically a "clip" but that's splitting hairs: my problem is that it doesn't always index properly and frequently misses a cylinder. I've shot about 3 dozen clips through it (about 250 shots) and have had it only function properly on maybe half the clips: All the others have had at least one skip. Holster: Seriously, for the price of this thing they could throw in a holster. Currently I carry it around the farm in the back pocket of my 511's uncocked on an empty cylinder. And as far as I can tell there isn't a 3rd party holster for it either. I will have to make my own. Grip storage: Maybe this is just the engineer in me but, there is plenty of room in the grip to store a couple clips and even the fill probe. Just seems like a missed opportunity and wasted space. I have misplaced the probe several times already.

What others should know:

This gun is fun, but can be really frustrating when it skips a pellet and you have to index it manually. I'll be looking into ways to fix this since I do enjoy the gun and don't want to send it back. It really does feel great in the hand and is just dang pleasing to look at. Everyone I have had shoot it is extremely impressed with the trigger. I do recommend getting 2 extra clips "magazines" so you can walk out and shoot a full tank without reloading the clips. Personally, I like to adjust all of the first stage out of the trigger as there is no real solid "wall" to feel in it, but to each their own.

Things I liked:

Impressive quality, fit, finish and function, and INCREDIBLE accuracy and trigger action (after adjusting out the gritty, crunchy first stage). Long-slide 1911-esque styling is a bonus for 1911 cultists.

Things I would have changed:

I would say make it less expensive, if that wasn't unrealistic. In my opinion this beautiful beast is a bargain!

What others should know:

Though I've only had a couple WINDY days to wring it out, it quickly became obvious the AP shoots so well it would take a 4-12X rifle scope to expose its accuracy potentials (at 50 yards). My AP16 (long) will average sub-1" five-shot groups at FIFTY YARDS. Charged to 270 BAR (on the gun gauge), the 30 shot powerband with 18.13 grain JSBs was most impressive- Low= 626, Hi= 633, ES= 7, SD= 1.5, Average= 630 FPS/16 foot-pounds. Last night I couldn't resist shooting a (7 shot) magazine before retiring, despite light and variable crosswinds. Adjusting my hold with each shot in reaction to the wind flags, that seven-shot, fifty-yard group measures just .74" center-to-center! NO, the AP16 is NOT overpriced.

  • Jason from USA asked:

Can the barrel be removed for cleaning with out emptying the tank of air?

    • Mark from USA answered:

You can remove the air cylinder with air in it. There is no need to remove the barrel to clean it.

  • Henry from USA asked:

What holsters are available to fit the compact version?

    • Joe from USA asked:

I'm confused! Can the air tanks be filled while off the pistol? Do you need some kind of adapter to fill the tanks when they are off the pistol? Why isn't a adapter included in the package. If you fill the tank when on the pistol do you spin off the tank to fill another tank? Are there any concerns in removing a filled tank off the pistol? I for one don't feel comfortable in safely dealing with removing a tank filled with 4300 psi. a Reply would be much appreciated.

      • Mark from USA answered:

The Air tank can be filled off the gun. The fill probes that come with the gun fill the cylinders.Taking the tank off is simple. It screws off. Many rifles have removable tanks. They work just fine. They are safe to handle full.
