9malls.com review of GoDaddy.com Rating: ****1/2 4.5 out of 5 stars Web site: http://www.GoDaddy.com Company History: "GoDaddy.com was founded in 1997 by Bob Parsons. Parsons previously had a software company called Parsons Technology, Inc. GoDaddy.com has more domains registered than Network Solutions which is quite an accomplishment. GoDaddy.com is currently the biggest registrar worldwide. GoDaddy.com sued VeriSign, Inc., over the Site Finder. GoDaddy.com has been sued by Web.com for patent infringement (Wikipedia.org)." Finances: Is GoDaddy.com going public? The answer seems to be yes. According to a CBS Market Match article on Apr 12, 2006 GoDaddy.com has hired Lehman Brothers to manage an initial stock offering, according to three people familiar with the firm's plans. Read the Market Watch article here. "The firm's revenue jumped to $75.68 million in 2004 from less than $1 million in 2000, according to accountancy firm Deloitte & Touche, which ranked the company as the 20th fastest-growing technology company in a 2005 survey. Go Daddy Group's offering could value the company at more than $250 million (CBS Market Watch)." Advertising: Yes, you can't talk about GoDaddy.com without talking about some of their advertising campaigns. The reason they were successful is because to some people felt the commercials were controversial. Personally I could care less, but sexual-related themed commercials created a buzz. "Most of Go Daddy's commercials began with the 2005 Super Bowl advertisement, and from there went further to other television stations, with many being rejected for content (Wikipedia.org)." The now famous actor in the GoDaddy.com commercials is Diva Candice Michelle. Pros: Great prices and customer service. I can't tell you how important customer service is and GoDaddy.com has one of the best customer service departments of any domain registrar. Low, low, prices. The Walmart of the domain registration world. Cons: When ordering a domain name GoDaddy.com doesn't have a simple checkout process. Simple meaning uncluttered, to the inexperienced customer, one might check a box inadvertently and buy something they don't want.
