Finances: In 2005 American Express had revenues of 24,267 (Millions $) Positives: Amazing customer service, one of the best I've ever dealt with. Been a card holder with American Express and have to say they by far exceed other credit card companies I've dealt with. Cons: Not really a con, but American Express has so many cards it's hard to choose one. I would go with their cash rebate card under the reasoning you can't go wrong with cash. Going with a Airline rewards card or the like limits your options. Conclusion: Sign up for an American Express card and see the difference. Other reviews of  American Express: MouthShut.com: They rate American Express 3 out of 5 starts. Not sure why the rating is so low. The reviews range from 1 stars to 5 stars there really isn't any middle ground. It seems according to these reviews you will either love American Express or hate them. I personally love them. One review titles "Filthy AmEx" stats AMEX never sent them paper statement (I can't say that always receive on time). Another claim he makes is he was charged for a magazine subscription he never ordered (Can't say that's happened to me either). He says the call center never helped him out (They always have helped me with warm and friendly service) may be he wasn't asking the right questions. Another reason why reviews are low is MouthShut isn't a USA only web site.
